Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain

Horizon Rehabilitation Centers Fibroymalgia and Chronic Pain Programs integrate posture realignment, stretching, trigger point releases, body mechanics education, and progressive fitness/aerobic programs specialized for fibromyalgia and chronic pain. The therapists work closely with their clients to help relieve or lessen many of the disabling effects of fibromyalgia and chronic pain.  Our staff will work with your physician to manage your discomfort in the best way possible.

Manual Therapy Interventions

Manual therapy interventions are utilized primarily to increase mobility in restricted of the musculoskeletal system and to reduce pain.  These "hands-on" interventions include a variety of soft tissue procedures and joint mobilization techniques.  Incorporating specific movement patterns with these manual techniques will enhance maximal movement and function.

Fibromyalgia 6 Week "Achy to Active" Program

Horizon Rehabilitation Centers “Achy to Active” fibromyalgia management program has been one of our most popular and successful program in treating fibromyalgia over the past 4 years.  This program is built around the three “best evidence” practice models in treating fibromyalgia:  comprehensive management, physical conditioning, and fatigue management training.   We do not embrace the “no pain no gain” philosophy in our program progression but have found greater success in evaluating each individual case, identify key symptom behaviors, and work with the patient in setting up their program and goals.   The “Achy to Active” program will incorporate a variety of gentle manual therapy interventions, a progressive stretching program, a gradual increase aerobic exercise, and education on diet, fatigue management, and activity modification/balance.

Electrotherapy Pain Relief Devices

Electrotherapy can help relieve and manage chronic pain. This kind of pain is usually the result of an accident or other injury, perhaps to the lower back or a joint in the hand or knee. If it lasts long enough, the pain itself becomes a disease. The most common forms of chronic pain are back pain, and arthritis.  Chronic pain is often treated with over-the-counter painkillers and prescription drugs. These drugs may have unwanted side effects and can be very expensive. In contrast, an electrotherapy pain relief device provides drug-free relief for the pain of arthritis, back pain, sciatica and many other kinds of chronic pain at a very affordable cost.  Electrotherapy comes in a variety of forms (TENS. NMES, MENS) and the physical therapists at Horizon Rehabilitation Centers will evaluate you to determine which type of electrotherapy will best address your symptoms.
