Balance And Vestibular Rehabilitation

 

Horizon Rehabilitation Centers offer services to address impaired balance and/or dizziness caused by the following issues:

·         Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)

·         Unilateral Vestibular Disorders (i.e. vestibular neuritis, labyrinthitis, vestibular schwannoma/acoustic neuroma, anterior vestibular artery ischemia, superior canal dehiscence, Meniere’s disease)

·         Bilateral Vestibular Disorders

·         Vertigo of Central Origin (i.e. Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, Arnold Chiari Malformation)

·         Migraine Related Dizziness

·         Cervicogenic Dizziness

·         General Balance Impairment/Fall Risk

Clients will receive a comprehensive balance evaluation including a musculoskeletal examination of the cervical and thoracic spine (neck and upper trunk), examination of visual and vestibular systems, analysis of proprioception/kinesthetic awareness, and assessment of the quality and quantity of standing balance and walking/gait.  Examination will use only evidence-based, well-researched functional balance tools.  Intent of all interventions is to address patient centered goals of improving the client’s level of function, decreasing complaints of dizziness, and increasing mobility and safety within the home and community.
